Now that I’m an official Divemaster I get to start helping out with real customers.
Recently, I assisted Instructor Sandra with 3 “PADI Seal Team” guests. PADI Seal Team is a special course made for children who are too young to complete a PADI Jr. Open Water course but still want to experience SCUBA diving. Children learn the basics of SCUBA diving like how to use a SCUBA unit underwater, how to clear their masks, recover and clear the regulators and how to practice neutral buoyancy. This is a program geared towards children, things are done in a much more fun way with students completing underwater “aqua missions” to reach their goal.
Me and Sandra had a blast in the pool with three guests aged 8, 10 and 12 (although you can begin Jr. Open Water at 10 years old, these three were on a family vacation and wanted to have an experience together so they all chose to try the Seal Team). Yes, we learned all the required skills but we had a lot of fun too. We had the children compete in underwater races, a cool underwater obstacle course including hoops, chairs, and a swim through. We did backwards rolls off chairs into the deep end and we spent tons of times practicing our buoyancy by throwing around underwater torpedoes and chasing each other around the deep end. Let’s not forget the epic “splash” contest and a few tosses into the pool for good measure.
I was so impressed with our three little scuba divers. They were so eager to learn and absolutely fearless underwater. Where adults would be nervous about being trying SCUBA for the first time, these kids didn’t blink an eye. It was a great experience for everyone.
Before I came to Blue Season I didn’t know that a program like PADI Seal Team existed. It’s such a great way to introduce children to the world of SCUBA and a perfect way to keep the kids occupied while mom and dad head out for a day’s diving at Nusa Penida! 😉

And if you are interested in making a day in Blue Season Bali as part of your family vacation, feel free to give us a call or email to set up a PADI Seal Team adventure for the kids and a day of diving for mom and dad.
