5 unique facts about the underwater world of Bali!

You may not know the breathtaking feeling of being weightless underwater or discovering the underwater life while snorkelling, after these 5 facts you are going to ask yourself what you are still doing in front of your computer?

1. Did you know that the most underwater hot spots are just a few meters away from the beach? For example at  Jemeluk Bay, Amed you are able to discover an abundant coral reef just 3-6 meters from the beach! You can expect to see some macro life, a wide variety of nudibranchs and a plentiful amount of shrimps and crabs.
2. Hidden Paradise! White sand, sheer water, unique underwater world. You probably call it Padang-Bai or Blue Lagoon. Located in the east of Bali, it is known as an underwater paradise, because of its incredible diversity of different fish.
3. You may know the stunning temples all over Bali, but did you already know there is an underwater temple as well? It was built in fact on purpose in 2005 as part of the “Reef Gardener” community project. The main temple was built on a 2500 square meter sandy seabed in 29 meters depth. In 2006 a second stage to the temple was constructed at a depth of 15 meters for the less experienced divers.
4. Big, bigger, Manta Rays! Even if they are growing up to a size of 9 meters, their diet basically consists of zooplankton – that’s why you don’t have to be afraid of them. For those of you who have a scuba diving license you can watch them at Nusa Penida/Mantas Point in 5-7 meters depth, but even if you are just snorkelling you should still see some of these breath taking creatures.
5. One of the easiest wrecks to dive in the world – the USAT Liberty Shipwreck. It isn’t as scary as you might think! The wreck is just about 30 meters away from the beach and even snorkelers get a glimpse of the ship. During your dive you are going to see plenty of different underwater creatures, for example Seahorses, Sharks, Pipefish…
