Best Dive Job Blog | The PADI Instructor Examination
Finally, after a month of studying and stressing, James and I have completed the PADI Instructor Exam (IE) and I am pleased to announce that Blue Season Bali has two new instructors in their midst! As we had been told time and time again during the IDC, the exam was quite easy and offered up no surprises in the way of skills and assignments. Of course, after all the preparation and practice we had put in over the past month, both James and I breezed through the exam with perfect scores in the Confined Water, Skill Circuit and Open Water sections!
The exam took place over three days. Day one consisted of an orientation and three hours of written theory and standards exams. It was also when we got to meet our examiners and the 20 other Instructor candidates from around Bali who would be taking their IE with us. The exams went smoothly since they were very similar to the many practice exams we had completed during the IE.
Day two consisted of Confined Water and Knowledge Development presentations. We were given our assignments during orientation so we had lots of time to prepare and practice which resulted in some pretty good (i.e PERFECT) scores. J
The third and final day took place in Sanur Bay where we completed our Open Water skills presentations and our Rescue exercise on the surface. Once again James and I breezed through with perfect scores (even though we were faced with some less than perfect conditions once we got underwater). The entire experience was capped off with a ceremony on the beach where we received our certificates of completion and the handshake that officially welcomed us to the world of PADI instructors.
Then it was time for the IE party…. But I’ll save that for another post.
It really has been an amazing experience so far and I can’t help but agree that I indeed have the “Best Dive Job in the World”. I am convinced now more than ever that the level of training and preparation offered here at Blue Season is second to none – the proof is in our scores.
Now on to the Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) internship! Bring it on!! James and I are more than ready!
